ABOUT MLRC
OVERVIEW
Established in 1977, ALAM's Maritime Library and Resource Centre (MLRC) maintains a specialized collection that caters to the information demands of staff and students alike of the Academy.
The main objective of MLRC is to support their students and staff in their teaching and learning by acquiring required materials and providing insightful and updated information on the maritime industry. It is equipped with designated areas for group work discussions and student – trainer discussion.
Opening hours:
Monday - Thursday : 0830 hrs - 2200 hrs
Friday : 0830 hrs - 2000 hrs
Saturday, Sunday & Public Holiday : Closed

CUSTOMER CHARTER
The MLRC will:
· Treat you with courtesy, professionalism and efficiency.
· Provide an environment which is conducive to study and conduct research.
· Provide information, resources and support for research, learning and teaching.
· Welcome your suggestions and comments.
· Deal promptly and appropriately with complaints.
To help us achieve this we ask you to:
· Be courteous to other users and staffs and to respect the study environment.
· Observe the Library’s regulations.
· Help improve our services by giving us your feedback.
GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS

Please observe silence in the library.

Opening hours may be revised periodically and users will be advised through the notice board.

In order to maintain the good image of the academy, users are required to be decently dressed and with proper behaviours whilst in the library. Those wearing round necks t-shirts, shorts and slippers will not be allowed in.

Mobile phone should be on silent mode or switched off whilst in the library.

Food is strictly prohibited in the library.

Bottled water and drinks in sealed cups may be consumed in the library but putting drinks near the computers in library is strictly prohibited.

The Prayer Room must be used strictly for prayers only. Use of cellular phones, smoking, eating and drinking is not allowed in the room.

Moving the library furniture from its designated place is strictly prohibited.

Users are not allowed to reserve seats in the library.

Books and other materials left unattended for long periods on the table will be removed by MLRC staff.

No bags, umbrellas, parcels, etc. except files and books may be brought into the library.





SAFETY RULES & SECURITY

The library is under camera surveillance.
-
User who purposely caused damage to the library's assets may be required to pay the full cost of replacement of any article defaced, mutilated or lost in addition to any fine or subject to stern disciplinary action.

Behaviour or actions which interfere with the use of the library by other patrons are forbidden and will be reported to the Security. Disciplinary action may also be taken.

In case of fire, please follow the instructions of the staff on duty.

Do not leave your possessions unattended at any time.

MLRC shall not be responsible for the safety by any personal property left within the library.

Unclaimed and lost property found are to be handed over to ALAM's Student Affairs Department).

MLRC users should leave the library at the second announcement before the closure of the library.

Upon leaving the library, all users are required to produce all books and item taken out from the library for inspection.
PLEASE NOTE: MLRC staff has the right to request a user to leave the premise if the user violates any of the above rules.
